FAQs

  • Pediatric pelvic health rehab, sometimes also referred to as pelvic floor therapy, encompasses the education and treatment of bowel and bladder dysfunction, along with general toileting difficulties, that impact kids 0-18. This is completed by an occupational or physical therapist with specialized training in both pediatrics and pelvic health.

  • Constipaton, fecal incontinence/encopresis, urinary incontinence/enuresis, bedwetting/nocturnal enuresis, functional or sensory-based toileting challenges, decreased bowel and bladder sensation/interoception, urinary urgency and frequency, pelvic pain, and congenital or acquired bowel and bladder disorders.

  • Sessions and evaluations aim to achieve the goals of you and your child while maintaining safety and comfort. Pediatric pelvic health never includes internal examination or treatment.

An evaluation will consist of 60-90 minutes, depending on age, establishing a baseline of bowel and bladder status through the following as needed: history, external examination to comfort level, nutritional information, observation of relevant biomechanical skills, and discussion of concerns and goals.

Treatment sessions are holistic, individualized, and effective; consisting of 60 minutes of individualized modalities and education to meet your goals. Treatment may include: manual techniques, rehabilitative ultrasound imaging, play tasks, nervous system regulation, sEMG biofeedback, medical-grade red light therapy, sensory integration techniques, physical activities, task analysis, toileting mehanics, nutritional education, home programming, and medication titration to manage constipation with physician approval, along with others. We aim to make treatment as fun and functional as possible, incorporating play and education whenever possible.

  • We are considered an out-of-network provider. We are happy to provide a superbill for you to submit to insurance if OON benefits apply to your policy. Remaining out of network allows us to prioritize individualized care to each patient’s needs without insurance dictating treatment or plan of care requirements or exceptions. Payment is expected to be rendered at the time service is provided unless other arrangements are made.

We understand paying out-of-pocket is not possible for all families and we aim to make treatment as accessible as possible. We offer sliding scale services when funding is available, offer payment plans, and are happy to help you find a provider in-network with your insurance if needed.

We have a list of local and national children’s healthcare grants available to individuals and families we would be happy to share.

We as a business are also consistently applying for grants to help provide services to lower-income families.

We accept credit, debit, HSA/FSA, and Venmo.

  • The average length of care is 4-12 visits, often decreasing in frequency as the patient progresses. Individual plans of care and rate or progress will depend most heavily on: severity of difficulties, acute vs chronic nature of symptoms, and adherence to home programs.
